What is Developmental Transactional Analysis (DTA)?

Developmental Transactional Analysis is TA focused on development rather than psychotherapy. There are four fields of TA application and qualification: psychotherapy (formerly clinical), educational, counselling and organisational.  DTA uses the same therapeutic models but translated to create a potent and practical approach that equips people to become more autonomous - and to help others do the same.  It is ideal, therefore, for anyone who has responsibilities for the development of individuals, teams and organisations.

We run a rolling programme of monthly workshops, attendance at which can be counted towards the requirements for international qualification as a Certified Transactional Analyst and for the International Centre for Developmental Transactional Analysis Certificate and Diploma, Practitioner and Vocational Awards- contact us for more information about the full requirements and specialisation options.

These qualifications are optional - you are welcome to attend any modules to build your competence without seeking any form of TA accreditation.

Course location is Hertford (full details sent on receipt of booking).   Go to course programme  for dates and fees and to download booking form.

The TA 101 Courses are a two day programme covering all main TA concepts. It is not essential to have attended as TA 101 course before attending any of the monthly workshops.

Each 2 day modular workshop has a theme, within which we work with relevant TA and other concepts.  The specific content for each module is decided shortly before it runs, so that the latest ideas from conferences, journals, books, etc can be incorporated.  The final selection is made at the start of Day 1 to match the needs of those attending both days.  There may be some adjustment if others join the group for Day 2 only.  Supervision each day will focus on the specific professional and personal development needs of those attending and may therefore extend beyond the theme where appropriate.

Each day of the 2 day modules includes training and supervision.  The training gives you the chance to try out various models and techniques, learn new approaches, understand the theories, and generally increase your skills.  The supervision is focused on the specific needs of those present and provides you with coaching or mentoring, in-depth supervision of your own work, and the opportunity to resolve personal, interpersonal or professional issues.  For those new to supervision, there is the opportunity to observe and learn from others' supervision.

2 day workshops – Content Guidelines

Please note that the following summaries are taken from the ICDTA Professional Qualifications Handbook.  See the Handbook for full details. The summaries are presented here for guidance only – we cannot guarantee to cover every item listed in the time available.  Those seeking qualifications are also expected to undertake relevant self study.

All modules are relevant for those intending to take the CTA examination. All modules are also relevant for the ICDTA Practitioner and Vocational Awards – see www.icdta.net for more information or contact us to discuss options.
